What is The Store like?

The Store is a free community clothing shop that welcomes anyone in need of clothing to visit us. We have stock men's, women's and children's clothes, along with shoes and coats for sizes newborn to adult.

Your experience when you arrive will feel just like going to a regular store, but you'll leave without pulling out your wallet.
Just open the front door, browse through our racks and tables of clothing offerings, pop up to the counter with the items you're ready to take home, and we'll bag it up and send you on your way.

That's it. No payment, no forms, no justification for why you are there. Our simple request is that anyone who has a positive experience with us consider doing a small act of kindness for others in need when you're able.

Who can 'Shop' at The Store?

Our mission is to provide the residents of Bureau County and surrounding counties with the clothing that they need. All are welcome.

Need looks different to everyone, and there are no criteria for opening our front door.

Need could be that you have circumstances in your life that make affording new clothing difficult. You may now be the primary caregiver for children that are not yours: you may have gained or lost weight and can’t afford to buy a new wardrobe. It might be as simple as needing a pair of black pants for your son’s Christmas program, and you don’t an extra $25 this month to buy them.

That’s why we're here.

A note from our Founder

Hi There,

My name is Erin Rosenthal, and I created The Store - a free community clothing shop located in Sheffield, Illinois - to provide residents of Bureau County and surrounding counties with the clothing that they need.

My inspiration for this has been stewing for almost a decade. I had some experiences where I was able to bless people this way, for free, with no strings attached. The thought of offering a similar environment in my community is constantly on my mind and I’m excited to see it come to life.

My experience has been that God has blessed me, and I want to bless other people by meeting this basic need.

I hope to see you 'shopping' with us soon,

- Erin
